Last week, a choir from Brittany, Ensemble vocal de l’Académie de Musique et d’Arts Sacrés-Sainte-Anne d’Auray (or ‘ADMS’), arrived in Uppsala, and we spent almost four days together. The ADMS choristers were guests in our homes.

Together with the Uppsala Cathedral Youth Choir, ADMS performed a concert on Saturday afternoon. These two pictures from the concert were taken by Cécile Vénien-Gérard.
Here are the choristers in Ensemble vocal de l’Académie de Musique et d’Arts Sacrés-Sainte-Anne d’Auray. The conductor is Gilles Gérard.
Above is a nice picture of us all at the conclusion of our concert. Our director, Margareta Raab, is standing next to Gilles Gérard.
After the concert we taught our French guests how to make (and eat!) a semla. A semla is a bun filled with cream and almond paste, and we usually eat this kind of bun before the season of Lent begins. But some Swedes love semlor so much that they eat them during many months of the year.
We also learned some traditional Breton dance steps, which we practiced out on the plaza in front of the Uppsala Cathedral.

On Sunday, ADMS sang during the morning service, and many of us in UDU were in the congregation.
After the morning services, we said goodbye to our new French friends. During our Easter break, we plan to visit ADMS in France and do more singing together.
